Fresh from the fryer of the UK’s Deep South, Southern Fried Groove Queens are a Mississippi Hill Country/Delta inspired duo. Predicated on a chance lockdown meeting between maniacal blues enthusiasts Lee Hall [Guitar/Vocals/Harmonica] & drummer Lucy Piper, daughter of late Blues musician, Julian Piper.
Cooked to perfection using a traditional recipe passed down through generations, from all organic ingredients they provide that fiery heart thumping kick and delectable grooves that will make you want to get down and boogie
The duo play their reinterpretations on the likes of old blues masters alongside their own blues inspired compositions. Formed in 2021, they have already played at many of the UK’s leading Blues and Jazz festivals, taking audiences by storm. In 2023, the band played at Ørland Blues Festival in Norway, where Bluesnews described their performance as “a fantastic concert that left many jaws dropping.” Another recent review in June 2024 by Mid Wales RnB Club described the band; “Lee and Lucy play together brilliantly, with amazing and irrepressible energy, displaying an uncanny ability to follow one another’s moves. They manage to take some of the absolute all-time blues standards, and reinterpret them in their own up-tempo style, whilst never compromising the authenticity of the originals.”
With Lee’s unique haunting vocals, energetic slide playing, and Lucy’s infectious hypnotic drumming, they create an irresistible groove machine bigger than the sum of its parts. Be prepared to get down and ‘juke’ with them!
